Pico Viejo is also within the National Park limits, and is the second highest volcano in the Canary Islands at 3,135 meters or 10,300 feet peak.

Teide National Park was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. Since the end of 2007, it has also been one of the 12 Treasures of Spain

Teide is the most visited national park in Spain and Europe and −by 2015− the eighth most visited in the world, with some 3 million visitors yearly.

Interesting Facts:

2. In 2018, the surroundings of the National Park hosted part of the filming of Rambo: Last Blood starring Sylvester Stallone.

3. In 1971, Brian May of Queen wrote “ Tie Your Mother Down” at the Observatorio del Teide, while working on his grad thesis.

4. The dramatic scenery has been featured in files such as One Million Years B.C., Intacto, Clash of the Titals, and Wrath of the Titans.

5. Raquel Welch posted of One Million Years B.C. that plays a signifact role in the film The Shawshank Redemption was taken at the Teide.

In and around the park we will have several stops, including:

1.Visitors Centerwith a wealth of information about the park and surroundings.

2.Ortuño Viewpoint, ( 1610 metres or 5300 feet above sea level) a simple lay-by with parking and information panels, surrounded by pine trees that frame the view.

Formed by years of ancient volcanic activity, the pyroclastic rocks are best known for their impressive stature and peculiar shapes, some appearing to defy gravity and others taking on an otherworldly presence.

6.Narices del Teide- stop to view the second youngest volcano of the island.

7. We will also have time forshoppingin the National Park area.

After leaving the park and on our way to Icod de los Vinos, we stop for local tastings of Teneifere.

To really explore and get to know the real Tenerife, it is best to do so using the five senses, above all, taste. After all, one thing that Canarian people hold close to their heart is food. One way to enjoy the traditional cuisine that the island has to offer is by stopping for local tastings.

We will enjoy Papas Arrugadas and mojo, plus local cheese, breads, and wine. Papas Arrugadas or wrinkled potatoes, is a typical dish of the Canary Islands served with mojo Mojo originated in the Canary Islands, and is a red or green sauce of varying degrees of spiciness.

Visit to Icod de los Vinos:

The Millenary Dragon Tree is probably the most symbolic landmark in Icod de los Vinos. A visit to the tree is a must, as is a walk around the cobbled streets and lovely squares. Here will will see the Dragon Tree, the symbol of the island. It stands 22 metres or 72 feet high, and is the world tallest Dragon Tree. The trunk diameter is 10 metres or 33 feet, and its estimated weight is 70 tonnes. The tree is reputed to be a thousand years old, thus its local name El Deago Milenario – the Thousand Year Old Dragon. In Icod de los Vison we will also see Church of San Marcos.

Historic downtown Icod de los Vison Freetime for shopping

We then drive 30 minutes to Puerto de la Cruz, along the north shore of the island offering some of the best view of the cliffs.

Both Spanish and Island traditions are evident in the former fishing village. Busy narrow streets of the Old Town, which is packed with Colonial architecture, is it the oldest tourist destination in the Canary Islands.

Puerto de la Cruz was one of the first places in the world to attract the burgeoning international tourist trade of the late 18th Century. It is home to historical sites such as the old customs house (now an art museum) and the area around the plaza del Charco. The San Telmo promenade and the fishing district of La Ranilla, as well as the swimming pools of Lago Martiánez - are also a must-see.

In Puerto de la Cruz we will have freetime for shoppingalong Front Avenue, full of shops and terraces with very nice views to the volcanic coastline.

Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín – Santa Cruz Opera House

The silhouetteofthe auditorium as seen from the sea evokes the SydneyOpera House in Australia. The term The Sydneyofthe Atlantic"' has come to refer to the cityof Santa Cruzde Tenerife. The grounds of the opera house sit at the edge of the sea and the boulders that act as the sea break have painted faces of people. The opera house dominates the landscape in Santa Cruz. It is massive, immediate and demands attention. The scale and size of this structure is difficult to convey and worth visiting the city for. The architectural work is creative and defies belief.
