Itinerary

This tour can be scheduled around your cruise ship porting times. Itinerary Breakdown: - 9.30 am departure from Cork port towards Cork city (approximately 30 minutes) (departure time can be amended according to your cruise ships porting times) - Panoramic drive towards Cork city and in the city drive (approximately 1.5 hour drive) - Approximately 1.5 hours at Blarney castle and Blarney Woollen Mills (depending on the volume of people on the day) - Drive back to the port (approximately 50 minutes)

Our ‘Small Group Tour’ shore excursions allow you to experience the most popular tours within a smaller group with a maximum capacity of 16 passengers.

You will be met at the port of Cork by a Cruising Excursions representative who will then guide you to your air conditioned transportation ready to commence your tour.

We will start our tour with a panoramic drive to Cork and enjoy the stunning views of the Irish countryside while your professional English speaking guide give you some meaningful insights about the local way of life.

We will travel along Great Island, with its beautiful views of the banks of the famous River Lee along with little villages like Monkstown, Glenbrook and Passage West.

Historical sites are right on your way as you will pass by the 14th century Belvelly Castle, originally build by and for the Anglo-Norman Hodnett family, and also the Martello Tower, a small defensive fort built during the 19th century.

We will then head move on to Fota Island, famous for the “Fota House”, a mansion which belonged to the Smith-Barry family from the 18th century to the mid of 20th century, along with its Golf Course where the Irish Open was played twice in the 1990s.

Leaving Fota Island, we will head towards Cork city, going through the northwest part of the port of Cork with its many inlets and waterways and bird friendly mudflats.

Getting to Cork city, you’ll pass along the banks of the north channel of the River Lee and see some of the landmarks like Fr. Mathew Statue at the top of Patrick street, St. Anne’s Church, Shandon (home of the world famous Bells of Shandon), Cathedral of St. Mary’s, St. Anne, Cork Opera House and the red bricked Crawford Art Gallery in Emmet Place, and St. Mary’s Church Pope’s Quay with its beautiful colonnades.

Then on crossing Christy Ring Bridge you’ll continue towards Blarney Castle, home of the world famous Blarney Stone which legend says that anyone who kisses this stone acquires the gift of eloquence and flattery.   We will stop here for approximately 1.5 hours before heading back to the port.

At Blarney castle you will have approximately 90 minutes of free time to take in the beautiful gardens, to admire the castle and maybe if you have time attempt to kiss the Blarney stone (please note on busy days there may be long queues for the Blarney Stone, it is also not recommended for people who have walking disabilities and fear of heights because the Blarney stone is situated at the top of the castle).

After the free time at Blarney, the tour will take you back to the port of Cobh in plenty of time for your cruise ships departure.
