You will be met at the cruise port by your Cruising Excursions representative ready for you tour to begin. 

Your adventure begins as we head away from the cruise port close to Volcano San Cristobal, In Chichigalpa. This area is considered to have the most fertile soil in Nicaragua and enables the rich growth of local produce such as Sugar cane and bananas. 

Your 40 minutes scenic drive will transport you to the land of Rum and Sugar which is Chichigalpa. 

Here you will begin your visit to Flor de Cana. 

Flor de Caña is a brand of premium rum, manufactured and distributed by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua and dates back as far as 1890.

It is the leading export brand and is the most awarded Rum in the world. The rum is enriched by the San Cristobal volcano with its combination of 3 main factors. 

Volcanic soil- Fertilized by the ashes constantly expelled by the volcano

Volcanic water Enriched by minerals infiltrated into underground reservoirs.

Volcanic climate. High volcanic temperatures contribute to the evaporation rate

This story began 1875 with Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, a young adventurer from Genoa, Italy. He risked everything by leaving his family behind to travel to the exotic country of Nicaragua.

With a history over 130 years, the brand, the company and the family have lived through a plane disaster, dictatorships, a civil war, nationalizations, hyperinflation, fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Your tour will include privileged access to the Rum Vault where you will see the slow aged rum and the Rum Barrel operational area.  You will watch the video presentation on how the rum is produced before enjoying the introduction and sample to Rum tasting by the Rumelier. 

Taste the world-famous premium Flor de Cana Gran Reserva 7. This full-bodied rum is Mahogany in colour with the aroma of toasted coconuts, vanilla and figs which leaves a long and smooth finish on your taste buds.

Take your last stop in the Flor de Cana museum. After your visit why not pick up your souvenirs in the gift shop or buy a drink from the bar.
