You will be met at the Port of Civitavecchia by a Cruising Excursions Representative (your English speaking professional guide), who will then guide you to your air conditioned transportation ready to commence your tour.
Our drive from the cruise port to Central Rome takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, during this time your dedicated English Speaking Guide will be giving you running commentary and as much information as you require about Rome and it's history. Your guide will stay with you throughout the day accept on your free time.
Includes: Colosseum (photo opportunities), Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona and St Peters Square (home to the Vatican)
Our first stop will be:
Approximately 10:00am - 10.30am– Colosseum (Depending on what time your cruise ship ports, please note this is approximate timing only.)
The coach will park in the designated parking area and your guide will accompany you to the Colosseum (please note this is about a 10 minute walk). Once at the Colosseum your guide will give some information about the history before your free time to take your photo's of this magnificent building (unfortunately there is not enough time to enter the Colosseum on this tour due to the other sites we visit).
From the Colosseum, we head back to the coach to head into the centre of Rome, where the coach will stop at Piazza Navona ready for our walking tour. The only way to see the main sites in Rome is by walking as this is predominantly a pedestrianised area.
From Piazza Navona we will walk toward the Trevi Fountain. The Trevi Fountain, an impressive monument with cascading water set in the centre of the city, truly a classic baroque masterpiece. This is one of the oldest water sources of the City dating back to the Romans. Your guide will tell you the famous coin tradition where throwing a coin in the fountain it is said that you will return to this beautiful city, listen out for more of the tradition... At the Trevi Fountain, there are a lot of pizzeria's, gelato's shops where we will be able to have free time to try these if you wish, before walking towards the famous Pantheon.
Arriving at the Pantheon we will have an inside visit, this is the best preserved example of an ancient Roman monumental building and is also hope to Raphaels tomb.
After Piazza Navona we will make our way to the coach with our guide for a leisurely drive to the Vatican City. Your guide along the way will be pointing out the landmarks and giving you lots of history and information during this short journey.
2.30pm - The Vatican (St Peters)
Your guide will escort you into St Peters Square and will give you information about the home of the Pope, the famous window and also about the surrounding area before you have a little free time to take your photo's, souvenir shop or simply have a coffee.
The tour will leave around 3.30pm for the journey back to the Cruise Ship.
NB There is some walking involved in this tour so please ensure you wear comfortable footwear. This tour is not suitable for customers who have walking difficulties or those in a wheelchair.
