Itinerary

- Meet outside the cruise terminal - Walking tour with stops on the way for refreshments (approx. 3 hrs) - Free time (approx. 30 mins) - Return to the port

This is a private tour

You will be met outside the port terminal by our Cruising Excursions representative with a sign and our company's logo ready to commence this fabulous tour.

As soon as you meet your guide, your tour will commence in San Francisco de Asis, where your guide will enlighten you about the imposing buildings surrounding the beautiful square, such as the Lonja del Comercio (the oldest stock market premise of Cuba), or the Old Monastery of St. Francis de Asis which faces the stunning marble lion fountain and the famous statue of the knight of Paris “El Caballero de Paris”.

Your walking tour will continue towards Plaza de Armas, the oldest square of "Habana Vieja" with its famous Madera Street and its lively markets offering antiquities and books. Here you will have the chance to admire from the exterior impressive buildings such as Palacio de los Capitanes Generales (the old museum of the city), Palacio del Segundo Cabo, El Templete (where the city was initially founded), La Casa de Los Condes de Santovenia (building existing since 1867 then converted in the Santa Isabel Hotel), El Castillo de la Real Fuerza (where in one of its towers, is displayed the famous statue of the “Giraldilla de la Habana”), with an amazing view over the bay, the Christ of La Habana and the fortresses of the “Morro” and “La Cabana”.

Next, your tour will continue towards "Plaza de la Catedral" or the Cathedral Square, which was built more than 200 years ago and constitutes the symbol of the city. In this square you can admire more meaningful structures such as:

  • The Museum of Colonial Art
  • Aguas Claras Duke House - now converted into a restaurant called "El Patio".
  • The Palace of the Count of Lombillo - now known as the Museum of Havana's History.

Just a few steps away you will have the unique opportunity to also visit Ernest Hemingway's favourite bar, where he used to relax and taste some Cuban Mojito. Later, you will be going off the beaten track to visit Obispo street where you will be visiting the farmer’s villages. Here you feel the real Cuban atmosphere as the locals show the genuine Cuban culture and traditions thanks to the presence on this street of farmers’ houses. On the way, you will also get to see the “Ambos Mundos” Hotel, where Ernest Hemingway used to stay during his visits.

Then, you will be walking through Mercaderes Street, where you will have the chance to visit one of the oldest perfume shops still holding the secret craftmanship to produce the "Habana 1791" fragrance.

Your journey will then take you on to visit Plaza Vieja, or the Old Square, made in 1559 known for the surrounding buildings displaying mixed architectural styles. Here you will have some great photo opportunities as you will find sights such as beer factory, a marble fountain and the famous coffee bar "Escorial", which from one of its corners you can witness the “El Capitolio”. The Capitolio, or National Capitol Building used to be the seat of the government in Cuba until after the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and is now home to the Cuban Academy of Sciences.

Your visit will end with an exterior visit of the Ron Habana Club Museum, where you will have free time to wander on your own and perhaps buy some local souvenirs.

Please note that there will be a couple of stops made during the tour to see some local Cuban products such as cigars or rum. Also some time will be given to have a drink or use the local facilities.

Please note: Visas for US residents are not included and in order to participate in this tour, it is required to purchase a visa on board of your ship and tick the 'self-guided people program' (or similar) option. For further information about visas, please get in touch with your cruise line representative.
