Situated at the Northern tip of Taiwan on the Tansui River, Taipei is a unique and exciting city full of religious, cultural and modern places of interest.
Upon arrival at Keelung Harbour you will be escorted to your first stop on the tour – Chung Cheng Park. Chung Cheng Park is situated to the east of Keelung City. Among the sites within the park is the statue of the Goddess of Mercy, she stands at 25 metres tall and has become the face of Keelung. The park overlooks Keelung Harbour and has three levels, the second of which is home to a Buddhist Library, Chung Lieh Temple and Chu Pu Tan Temple which attract many worshippers form around the world. The third level is home to the Kuan Hai Pavillion which provides a wonderful vista for visitors to the park.
Before travelling to Yehliu you will have the opportunity to look around Keelung Harbour. The harbour is embraced by mountains on three sides and a narrow river in the north. The harbour has many historical buildings and statues which you will be able to see as your guide escorts you through this vibrant and energetic place.
Your tour will end with a visit to Yehliu Park, also known as Yehliu Cape it forms part of the Taliao Miocene Formation and stretches approximately 1700 metres into the ocean. The spectacular formations were formed by natural forces pushing the Datun Mountain out of the ocean. A number of the formations have been given special names based on their appearance, the best known of which is “The Queen’s Head”. Other names which have been given to the rocks include Fairy Shoe, Sea Candles and Ginger Rocks!
This is a very interesting tour suitable for all ages and provides a gentle day of walking, learning and simply looking!
