Our first stop will be the famous UNESCO World Heritage site 'Bryggen', the Wharf. Bryggen has been on the UNESCO list for world cultural heritage since 1979.Here you will observe the medieval wooden buildings in the Hanseatic Quarter, the impressive 12th century St Mary's Church and the museums on the premises.
Next to Bryggen you will see the Bergenhaus Fortress area with the 12th century royal stone hall, Haakons Hall and the renaissance Rosenkrantz Tower.
The castle to the Bergenhaus Fortress is one of the oldest fortifications in Norway with the Rosenkrantz Tower was once home to the King Eric Magnusson with relics and views of the city and harbour,
As we drive through the city, we will see the funicular station which sits at the foot of Mount Floyen in the centre of the city. The cable car can take you up the see the heights of Bergen and offers amazing views. This is not included in this tour. Also, within the city we will see the theatre, the Art gallery, the fish and flower market and the main concert hall named after the composer Edvard Grieg.
Along the harbour we will enjoy a photo stop at the Custom House pier. Here you can capture the amazing views of the city centre and the harbour.
During the tour we will see the picturesque wooden houses along the narrow cobblestone streets and the characteristic hamlets from the 18th and 19th century.
See the contrast of both modern and traditional areas that are also home to the Norwegian Royal family and the beautiful nature that surrounds it.
With your tour now at a close you can be dropped in the centre for those who wish to explore a little longer and make their own way back to the port or you can return to the port with your guide in plenty of time for your sailing.
