You will be met at the cruise port by your Cruising Excursions representative ready for your tour to begin.
Your day will begin as your journey inland 150 minutes and past the city of Bangkok until you reach Ayutthaya.
Discover the fascinating and historic city of Ayutthaya which was founded 1350 and listed in the UNESCO world heritage.
This city was the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom which knew its splendour between the 14th and 18th century and was once one of the largest cosmopolitan areas in the world. In 1767 the city suffered a terrible attack from the Burmese army who razed the city and forced the inhabitants to flee, leaving parts of the city damaged or destroyed. Ayutthaya was never rebuilt, and it’s well known today to be an extensive archaeological site, characterised by religious towers “Prang” and massive Buddhist complexes.
In fact, your first stop will be at the Wat Mahathat, the royal temple residence of the supreme monk. Then onto Wat Phra Sri Sanpher, the largest and most important temple of the city which serves as the Grand Palace of Ayutthaya.
Later you will be taken to the Bang Pa-In Palace, with a history dating back to the 17th century when King Prasat Thong, had a palace constructed on the Bang Pa-In island in the Chao Phraya River.
Today the palace is used during the summer by Their Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit as a residence and for holding receptions and banquets.
With your tour now at an end you can sit back and relax on the scenic journey back to the cruise port. You will be returned to the cruise port in plenty of time for your ship's departure.
